I really hate how flickr posts pictures to my blog.... Any way, the above photos are of the girl's dance and the thank you sign at the original school building. There were pens available for people to sign.
On Saturday, 16 March, a closing ceremony was held for Naruse Daini Junior High School. Next year, Naruse Daini and Naruse Daiichi (the school that daini is sharing the building with) will be combined to make Naruse Mirai Junior High School.
The first half hour, starting at nine-thirty in the morning, was very formal. A speech was given by the principal and the mayor of Naruse. After that, a short intermission, where volunteers were recognized and given thank you gifts on the stage, and then the students held their closing ceremony.
The boys performed Egypt Dance, and the girls performed a traditional Japanese Dance. The students then sang songs, and everyone in attendance joined in for the school song. We were all given packets which contained a yearbook of the schools history, and a DVD, which is really neat.
Afterwards, we headed to the original building where a memorial was dedicated and everyone said their final goodbyes. It was really sad, but at the same time it was really nice to see my third year students for the last time. I had Otomo-sensei take some pictures of my students and I, but the camera seems to have eaten them somehow. Evil camera....
